DoDEA Operations in a "Government Shutdown"

In the event of a lapse in appropriations after September 30, 2023 leading to a “government shutdown”, DoDEA schools will remain open for normal operations, except for sports (including practices) and extracurricular activities which will pause during a shutdown.

Principal's Corner

Welcome to John O. Arnn Elementary School, home of the Knights! I have the privilege to serve our military connected children of Camp Zama and work with an amazing team of educators.

At Arnn, we strive for academic excellence while maintaining a safe, nurturing, fun and creative environment for all our students. We want to make sure all our students feel welcome and are always ready to learn. Our school promotes a strong sense of school spirit through our student purpose statement. We also promote a sense of life-long learning through our current motto “Destination Learning: Go, Grow, Know, and Show”, which is communicated every day through our morning announcements.

Our team of educators collaborate in teams and with our team of resource specialists to ensure that received the best education they deserve. Our model focuses on the whole child and takes into consideration not only academics but also the social emotional learning of our students. We are able to do this by creating a student-centered learning environment that acknowledges student differences and promotes active participation and collaboration.

I invite you to be active within the school by volunteering in your child’s classroom and/or school events, join our amazing PTO, participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) events, School Advisory Council (SAC) meetings, and attend school wide events. I also encourage you to stay connected with your child’s teacher throughout the year as they the primary point of contact in the classroom.

Once again, I welcome you to our amazing school and….GO KNIGHTS!
